UPDATE 2:56PM: Hanover chief of police: “There was a device intended to be detonated inside the stadium.”

UPDATE 2:53PM: German police told local reporters they received a tip about the explosives just minutes before game time.

UPDATE 2:48PM: According to local news sources, unconfirmed reports indicate that police have found an emergency vehicle that was laden with explosives near the stadium. According to a Vice.com report: German newspaper Bild quotes Hanover police chief Volker Kluwe as sayng that “there was as serious plan to blow something up.”

UPDATE 2:44PM: The Hanover subway system has been shut down by authorities citing another security concern.

ORIGINAL STORY: German authorities have canceled a national soccer match between Germany and The Netherlands in Hanover, Germany has been canceled and evacuated following a security threat.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was set to attend the match, but did not appear to be in the stadium at the time of evacuation.

This news comes just days after the sight of a France – Germany national match was attacked by a suicide bomber in Paris.

A second venue in Hanover - a music arena - has now been evacuated by police. The 14,000 TUI Arena was due to host a concert by the band The Söhne Mannheims.

Hanover police now say they received a "concrete threat" about a bomb, German news agency DPA reports, citing police chief Volker Kluwe.

Univ/Md. had lots of overseas operations for a long time, and so I had a roommate at the College Park campus.....he was a son of some iranian diplomat type....maybe even higher up.....I just remember his first name was Fred.....friendly enough, but that relative/diplomat type stopped over to see him and made some comment about this nation...that I took HUGE exception to and basically flipped him off, to which some classmates were shocked I had to guts to do....Fred thought it was funny I had the courage to DO that, I didn't give a shit.....so this was back in the SHA daze of iran.....never trusted Fred one damn bit......found out later on I was correct.....

Bobby Jindal, was unaware his state was receiving Syrian Refugees until he watched the news and saw it on television. If Americans knew how these "refugees" and "unaccompanied minors" from various central American countries are brought in to a system funded by our tax dollars and are extremely lucrative for various fake "religious" affiliated immigrant mills set up by private companies and funded by the DHS, they would completely lose their shit. This is a $10 billion industry at least. Just in the last year.

a "concrete threat"? really? I somehow doubt these people are going to call in a threat of any sort, unless it's to provide a distraction to actions elsewhere.

I think it's already too late in Germany. Their liberal policies have undone them. It won't happen to Russia.

I agree. After losing two world wars and being occupied continuously since WWII, Germany has been neutered. They would rather self destruct than allow themselves to be the nationalistic power they could be.

I'm not sure about that. German nationalism may once again rise up and negate any position held by the current government.

A "little" help from their neighbor to the East, doesn't seem too far fetched, either.
