Late 70's used to have one in the ex wife's '75 chebby 3/4 ton van, our camper vehicle.....and avoided many a traffic mess with it......

I have a hand held one. Use it to keep in touch with other drivers when the club is doing a Saturday morning run. It is useful on cross country trips.

I had a few different ones back then.

Had a Johnson 3 23A (if I remember the name right) with a very powerful leg warmer. Only used the heater when the idiots were goofing around and I had to get out.

One of my friends was a very serious HAM and he tweaked the radio, antenia and "warmer" That warmer was his at one time but when he upgraded his shack he gave it to me and installed it.
