Diamonds are significantly more now than they were 4-6 months ago. What was a 3-4k diamond is now 5-7.5k diamond. FML!!!

Yikes! Guess I don't feel so bad about my absurd purchase last Fall.


I just checked on Bluenile.com the prices don't seem to have jumped nearly that much, maybe 15% at most.

Diamonds wouldn't be nearly as expensive as they are if the prices weren't controlled by the diamond cartel.

Diamonds are quite plentiful and the price would be significantly less. Plus they have one helluva marketing ability. To wit:

Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend
Diamonds are Forever
Is 2 months' salary really too much to spend on the one you love?

Gotta hand it to them.

I gotta say I sure as hell felt like a sucker paying even wholesale for Karen's, my Understanding is some countries have HUGE stashes of Diamonds that if released would completely devalue the diamond. But if you want the bling, unfortunately you gotta pay for it
