Thanks for the concern, OB, but there isn't a railing on any of the docks in this entire area of NW FL except on stairs and the upper decks, where it's required by code.

Reason being, accessibility by boat, fishin', net castin', fish gut-slingin', pissin', etc.

In other words, because dock.

Sorry, I was referring to the ramp specifically, not the dock.

Mom wanted it (81 yo) but after she saw what a PITA it is, and the fact that none of the other docks we have seen has them, she relented.

If your build parrots the photos you supplied the only staples you will need are just enough to keep things flat until you sandwich the mesh between two boards, then use enough carriage bolts to secure the wood from excess warpage. The end product will be stiff, clean looking from both sides and faster than stapling every other mesh or so.
