Are you even sure you’re using the correct battery? They may look alike, but they have subtle differences. There are a ton of different battery SKUs, 371, 373, 395, 377… they all look alike, but they may not work unless you have the exact one required. I have never had any issue with ones off Amazon, Battery Junction or Esslinger.

If you want to be able to complain to a live person if you get inferior product, there are Batteries Plus locations in a lot of places. That is all they do, and at least you can throw the junk at someone if the deal goes sour.

My kitchen plug-in clock that I made in high school, around 56-57 years ago, shit the bed a few months ago. I cannot find new guts for it.
So I took the big clock from my shop (which I no longer use) and put it in its place. That, and my living room clock, both run on one AA battery. They last about a year as I recall. If I used a lithium battery, they would last a lot longer than that. They take a half-minute to replace. Why do youse guys have to take your clocks somewhere to get the battery replaced? |

New button cells should easily last 5 years in room temp storage. That leaves you two culprits:
1) Counterfeit goods. Look at the stories of buying memory cards from Amazon. 2) Your electrical skills are lacking |

Well, my electrical skills are certainly nowhere near Aerovtte's, but I think I can manage the battery tester on my multi-meter. |

I just looked, and there is a Batteries Plus about 5 miles up the highway from here. I'll bring the clock to them today, if I'm doing something wrong, maybe they can clue me in. Thanks!

dis-assemble wrist watched that require batteries. The one I go to, always has lines of people waiting to getting batteries replaced. Cost ~ $10 - $15.00, but worth it. High turnover rate in battery stock. |

This clock is super simple though. If you have a fingernail, you can change this battery. Stopped by Batteries Plus, got a new battery, tested it in the store at 1.56 volts. My wife put it in the clock, and it is working! Thanks for all the suggestions! |
