Default So the father in law's funeral was friday

Youngest sister (child #4) was a no show. Claims she was sick. She only visited him once in the last month he was dying. Oddly enough at the visitation the evening before she reeked of alcohol. Same one that had a liver transplant three years ago. One would think Damn near dying would eliminate the drinking.
The other sister (child #3) arrived late with five minutes left in the service. Claims she was sick as well. She also only visited once in the last few weeks. This one is a pillhead.
Neither husband showed and both were to be pallbearers. A cousin and myself stepped up to fill in.
I can't imagine being late or a no show at a parent's funeral. SMH...

My dad went to a funeral at our church last week for an old lady in our church that died. He is a deacon in the church, and retired, so he attends lots of funerals even if he didn't really know the people very much. He said that he, the pastor, the pastor's wife, and one other deacon were the only people who attended. None of the woman's family came, even though her son, daugher-in-law and grandkids live right here in our town. She also had other family not too far away. They all "had to work". Pastor said it was the first time in his career that not a single family member attended a funeral for a person. I figure the old lady might have been a PITA when she was alive, but you still gotta attend your mom's funeral. Sad.

My Paternal grandmother was such a bitch none of here grandchildren were ever allowed to meet her.

When she died I offered to go with my father and help out. He said No thanks, She is not worth it.

A total lack of respect....for the deceased and the family that was there. Hopefully they'll be left out of any will that was left as well.

Maybe it's a reflection of the deceased failing to earn anyone's respect while the deceased was still breathing. I don't subscribe to the idea that, just because someone is a family member, you're obligated to overlook them being a shitty person.

Want people to mourn your passing rather than celebrate your absence? Don't be a dick.

Very sad for your FIL

When my father-in-law passed a way a few years ago, I was hopefully that his one son who has not spoken to his father or mother in the last 20+ years would show for the funeral, but he did not. I've been in the family for nearly 20 years and have never met him all I know is he and my FIL had a falling out. Granted my FIL was a difficult person to say the least, but you could at least show up for your mother considering the fact that there has never been any indication that there was an issue with her other than being married to my FIL.

Families can certainly be difficult!

You may have a point. However, if you are/have been a dick to me, and you croak, I'm damn sure going to the funeral to make damn sure you're f'cking dead.

If that's the protocol, I can think of a few people whose funerals are going to need stadium seating and crowd control.

NOT a family relationship, but business, I tried to buy into what was apparently a happy speed shop/hotrod building operation here some 19 years ago, and got royally ripped off by Steve Szala who died of throat cancer, Tony Gonyon who maybe still around, and Kevin Hester who apparently skipped town, last I heard.....

So I went public on cruise nights, passing out circulars with supporting documents to the open public......

same shit in another business.....Douglas K. Johnson....sgt US Army....damn crook/thief.....died of BRAIN cancer......him and another guy friend of his...William F. Tschannen in an internet oriented business....and it failed too, because they didn't really know WTF they were doing.....

that one is not so well advertised as the shit was hitting the fan but good about the first one.....Szala/company called Hocus Pocus Engineering, named after a offshore race boat....supposedly.....

Had I known WTF I was doing, I should have arranged the death of the remaining 3 persons.....
