I joined the Army because the 'ole man finally got tired of my sh!t and kicked me out of the house - I was fast becoming a motorcycle bum with no direction in life. Its amazing how hunger will incentivize you to do something you normally wouldn't. Hustling for your next meal doesn't leave you time for tattoos, nose rings, tucking your junk into a girls bathing suit or have a hoop put through a nipple.

On the serious side - I retired from the US Dept of Justice in Wash DC as a Senior Exec in 2001 and I'm always afraid people will think the DOJ I worked in back then is like the current one.

I have a similar story. I moved out, failed due to partying, drugs and alcohol…and had to move back. After trying to continue that lifestyle in my parents’ home, dad “suggested” the military. I thought, “okay, I want to fly, I’ll go to the Air Force recruiter. Turns out when I got there it was a Navy recruiter. Being hung-over I decided to make the most of it, besides, Navy has airplanes, right.!?

Naturally, I ended up on submarines.

My Dad gave me a suitcase for Christmas and the movie “Stripes” came out, not too long before. Didn’t look that bad and not low standards like the Marines so I joined the Army.

Worked out well, especially with the “thank you for your service” times we live in.

I don't disagree with any of that. What we've been conditioned to believe, with help from the left-wing media/establishment, is that "the country" and "the government" are one in the same.

Nothing could be further from the truth. They are two separate and distinct things.
