Can someone explain to me how you can drive over the grass/curbs at pit entrance and re-enter the track, not get a penalty and then win?
Louise, can't stand her. |

Louise summoned to stewards office for pit lane ridiculousness:
Hamilton summoned to stewards over pit entry incident 2018 German Grand Prix Posted on 22nd July 2018, 17:08 | Written by Keith Collantine Lewis Hamilton has been summed to see the German Grand Prix over his pit entry incident during the race. The stewards are investigating whether he breached Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 4(d) of the FIA International Sporting Code by “crossing the line separating the pit entry and the track.” |

Ferrari’s team order “wasn’t clear enough” – Raikkonen
2018 German Grand Prix Posted on 22nd July 2018, 19:31 | Written by Dieter Rencken and Keith Collantine Kimi Raikkonen says he wasn’t clear Ferrari was issuing an instruction to him to let his team mate past during the German Grand Prix. Raikkonen asked for the order to be clarified before letting Sebastian Vettel through into the lead on lap 39. ADVERT | BECOME A RACEFANS SUPPORTER & GO AD-FREE “We have certain rules but it wasn’t clear enough,” said Raikkonen. Ferrari brought Raikkonen into the pits 11 laps earlier than his team mate, which meant Vettel ended up running behind Raikkonen. Vettel complained several times on the radio that he was damaging his tyres running behind Raikkonen. However Raikkonen, who was likely to need a second pit stop had the race stayed dry, was concerned about losing time by letting Vettel through. “I had speed and obviously it was a bit in a moment in the race that I wasn’t ideally to stop. That’s what happened.” The rain which fell later in the race and Vettel’s race meant the change of positions proved academic. “In the end, it didn’t change an awful lot,” said Raikkonen. “It was a tricky race with the rain and it was pretty slippery in a few places. “I had a small moment with one of the lappers [backmarkers], the Sauber, under braking and Valtteri got past me, so not an easy race. I’m happy to finish, a bit disappointed, but I’ll take it today and we’ll try next time.” Ferrari’s message to Raikkonen Jock Clear So Kimi this is Jock. You are aware we need to look after tyres. Both cars need to look after tyres and you two are on different strategies. Your track strategies are slightly different and we’d like you not to hold up Seb. Thankyou. Kimi Raikkonen I’m not sure what you mean. What do you want me to do? Jock Clear Losing as little time as possible, obviously, but when you can Seb is capable of going quicker but, er, he’s hurting his tyres and you are as well, we need to look after them. Kimi Raikkonen So you want me to let him go? Just tell me. |

Noted for the future, let your own team confuse you, break a rule, admit to what you were caught doing by every single person watching the race and the stewards will look the other way. Fantastic. What a joke.
Whiting explains three-hour wait for Hamilton verdict 2018 German Grand Prix Posted on 22nd July 2018, 20:16 | Written by Dieter Rencken and Keith Collantine FIA race director Charlie Whiting has explained why there was a delay in announcing the investigation into Hamilton’s pit lane infraction during the German Grand Prix. Over three hours passed between Hamilton cutting the pit lane entry line and the stewards issuing their verdict on the incident. It did not become known that Hamilton was under investigation until he was summoned to the stewards after the podium ceremony. ADVERT | BECOME A RACEFANS SUPPORTER & GO AD-FREE Other penalties have been handed down more quickly, such as in the United States Grand Prix last year, where Max Verstappen received a penalty before the podium ceremony for an illegal overtaking move on the final lap. Whiting said the stewards felt that in this case they needed to hear from the team. “It just takes a little bit of time to make sure that, if you’re going to call a team, you have good reason for calling them,” Whiting told media including RaceFans. “We wanted to wait until after the race to take a look at it because we were getting quite close to the end of it. Then there was all the rain and thunderstorms and everything like that. “By the time everything had calmed down we needed to have a good look at it and the stewards decided they should discuss it with the team.” Whiting also confirmed Ferrari did not protest Hamilton’s driving. The stewards gave Hamilton a reprimand for the incident but decided against issuing a time penalty, which would have cost him victory. They took into account the confusion on the team’s radio channel at the time of the incident. Hamilton said the hearing allowed him to explain this to the stewards. “They ask you to explain what happened. I was 100% open with them. I’ve been [there] many times in the past, I was there a lot, but hardly ever see them now. I respect the rules and respect the job that they have to do. “I was open, this was how it was. They could see and hear how confusing it was. I left and had to go back and went and they said ‘we’ll tell you shortly’.” |

It was a non event that had absolutely no bearing on the outcome of the race.
The move could have caused more harm to Hamilton alone, than anyone else on the track. To penalize ANYONE for that action would be ludicrous, especially as there was actually "confusion". Even if there wasn't "confusion", so what? It affected no one. Every one of those race teams is breaking the rules in one form or another. It's just not that apparent to you. |
