Default A spider you'll never forget

Well, not really but this fugger was huge for PA standards. Almost a baby by Aussie standards.

He was right over the top of my head and I didn't see him until I happened to look up.

Wolf spider. Pretty common around here. Got massive fangs but aren't really poisonous to humans, and rarely bite. Unless you go f'ckin' with it.

Cool pic

Yeah looks like a wolf spider. When they are big like that, it they may have babies on the body. If you touch it, the babies scatter so it's best not to have one in the house.

Reminds me of a time at our cabin that my dearest got outta bed to go to the bathroom......after a looooong pause, she lept from the bathroom to the bed, a distance of about 12 feet, and only touched ground once.

My late grandmother hated snakes. ( actually "hate" is an understatement )

My grandfather was trimming with the pushmower behind the house when my grandmother opened the cellar door. At the bottom of the steps ( in the basement) was a 2' Gardner snake.

She screamed so loud my grandfather heard her and ran inside. She also lost her voice for a few days

This was up at Mom's house at Lake Wallenpaupack. She is having the 2nd garage expanded to 2 more large bays with storage.

fuuuuuuu

Reminds me of the time an old GF sent me to her shed to get an old box. It had a 2-3 foot long snake's skin in it. I beat feet the hell out so I wouldn't meet the owner.

The kids around here play with them..

Catch them and keep them in a match box, call them spiderman..

What they do is put two spiders on a stick, one at each end, then the spiders will attack each other.

The first one to fall off the stick looses that round, three rounds of falling off the stick is the loser..

I stomped my sons spider.. he cried..

There is some spider fighting going on in this video.

Wolf spiders are nice to have around actually because they eat the hell out of other bugs. They can give a painful bite, I learned that lesson when I reached down to pick up a rock while mowing my parent's yard and grabbed a big wolf spider by mistake.

I've been bit by brown recluse spiders a few times but fortunately for me I'm not allergic to their venom. It just makes an itchy bite like a tick or mosquito. Not allergic to bee stings either but wasps really do a number on me.

Spiders don't bother me but I do NOT want to screw with those recluse spideys.
I've seen some crazy pictures about what they can do to people.

I've seen more than just pictures. They are very common around here. My father in law got bit on the foot and it was really disgusting. At one point they thought they might need to amputate but he recovered nicely and now there's just a depression and a lot of scarring there. A woman I used to work with sat on one and it bit her right butt cheek. She lost about half of that butt cheek.

Thing is, only about 25% of people are going to get the reaction you see in those pictures. Most people, it doesn't do much.

A friend of mine, we call him the Recluse Whisperer. He can find them like nobody's business. We'll be at someone's house and he'll just kinda glance around and say "You know you got two brown recluses in this room?" and the host will be all when he points them out and then kills them dead. We have an exterminator that comes to our house every two months like clockwork.
