Default Wife in ICU
Just wanted to share. Heidi was diagnosed with lung cancer about two months ago. I didn’t post because I get such negative reactions when posting about health challenges for unknown reasons.

But I have no one to talk to so if this post bothers you, STFU and move on.

She had part of her right lung removed. I’m in the ICU waiting area until she gets transferred from recovery in an hour.

It’s going to be rough for a few days. Breathing tube, chest tube, ribs spread, multiple incisions. I don’t expect her to be able talk. She might not even know I’m there tonight.

She has never smoked. No chemo or radiation this time. Just a few days of hell for her ahead. I wish I could take this on for her.

I have cancer too but it is very slow growing and I’ve opted out of treatment. My other disease will kill me first. I’m pretty much fine - always tired. I’ve quit music so I can focus all my energy on work.

Last show was Saturday. Sold out show plus some. Almost to capacity (about 250 people). No Christmas this year.

Prayers and friendship appreciated.

My grandfather had part of a lung removed in the 70’s. I remember being so scared and then so happy when he got home and I got to see him.

One huge challenge is that she is my caretaker. I have to take care of both of us now but not sure how. My son can help some. For example I need to be at the cancer center all day Friday. So my son will have to be with her. We’ll figure it out.

They said they got it all. Lymph nodes removed and being tested but this should be the end of it.
