My track car is a bastard. Non numbers matching, having blown up 2 engines, making the decision as to what's next is what I have to figure out.

The 500+ hp Supra is just around the corner, and as a previous multi-Supra owner, it has my attention. Still getting the C8 Z06, but I need something to race. Another option is an Arial Atom.
Thanks for the advice.

I had looked at a couple of 427’s and both had cams/cold air intakes. The only thing special about my car is the LS7. You don’t **** with the one thing that is the reason behind the car.

Lingenfleter built the exact same flat crank motor, for testing purposes. I bet they have one they can build, and run in your current car, without issue. For cheaper than GM.

Not sure at the moment, but not spending 20k for a long block, only to follow with the expected 2-4k of additional expenses to make it run. Kind of not sure what's next.

Happy as hell to have my '09 garage queen that's worth in the 50-55k range, but clearly a track car won't have that value. Call it 35K? Putting 24-25k into it makes no sense. Sad thing is the chassis only has 17k on it. It's basically a new car.
Dude, I can build it for you for MUCH cheaper than that. I've built every engine in EVERY hot rod I've ever had. They've all been stout. LS's are not rocket science...in fact they're super easy. As long as the block isn't completely trashed, you can sleeve it for relatively cheap. I can get sleeves and a machine shop to make it build ready (all the bells and whistles 2K HP +) for around $1500 in NC. We should talk man. Always happy to keep an LS7 alive and running. In addition to my bumper build, I'm also building my back up (but mo-betta) engine. Darton sleeved (4.155 bore), studded, decked, honed, planed LS7 block, Winberg crank, LS9 titanium Pankl rods, custom coated pistons, piston oil squirters, the works...still under 10K at the moment.

Protecting factory stock LS7's is going to add significant value down the road, thus the '09 is a keeper. '08 is a different story. If I could get the long block for even 15k, then I'd move forward, but the math starts to get fuzzy at this level.

For that 25k investment, plus what I can sell the car outright for, or part it out, I can buy a brand new car to run as my long term autocross car. C8 Z06 will not be subjected to that abuse.
Why not switch to Porsche

That sounds about right for a built LS7.
The GTO got the 675 hp LS7 from TX Speed and it's been flawless so far with about 10k miles on it.
They sleeved an LS7 block and built up from there.

But given the C8 and you eyeing a Z in the future you'd be much better off putting a few bones into a new track toy like you mentioned a few posts back.

Dang...didn't think would be so offensive. I've only ever met 3 dudes that drove them...all fit the description I mentioned. I don't think politics had anything to do with it.

I had to repair and upgrade my C7Z engine after water pump broke.
Nothing was a cheap as planned, and very few items were readily available; waited almost 2 months for a OE crankshaft.
Wish you luck, and although I am sure you know, there is sometimes good value in CF Parts Section.

have you thought about a non-LS7 crate? 500+ HP LS motors can be had for under 10K. It's a race car, does it really matter?
