Sea Six pissed me off a few months ago, and I actually called him out on it publicly. He never banned me. And frankly, in retrospect, I was being kind of an ass in the first place.

It actually takes one hellovalot to get banned here.

I should know. I've been banned twice here since I joined up, which has to be a near record for The Vette Barn. I can only count the banned members I can think of on the fingers of one hand, and I'm one of them.

Both were absolutely deserved, I admit. The first time I got a week off for posting a blatant personal attack in an open thread, and the second was for intentionally spamming up nearly every thread on the first and second pages of OT in a lame attempt to protest a then-policy of moving threads (which is no longer being done... but that is beside the point).

Moderation here is NOT heavy-handed. One thing that is not tolerated, per Y2KVERT4ME (the current owner of this site) is nudity. The simple reason is that we don't want to get branded as a porn website and therefore blocked from members being able to view this site from work. Tom / Y2K has that rule specifically spelled out in the instructions for Moderators to follow.

A couple of weeks ago one member posted a video clip which contained nudity. I deleted the post, and in its place I added my own description of what was deleted so that anyone curious could do a simple google search and find it. Another member called me out in an open thread for deleting it and then called me a fag for doing so to boot.

What did I do? I didn't ban the member that posted the nudity. I didn't even ban the one that posted a call-out on a mod in an open thread, who was just doing his job.

Instead, I (gasp) BANNED HIM FROM THAT INDIVIDUAL THREAD. Not banned from the site. Not banned from OT. Not even for a day. Oh, the horror. Such abuse of Powers Of Moderation.

Contrast this with CF whose Mods lock threads, edit posts, and ban members, all from a seemingly plethora of rules, directives and god knows what other guidelines and point-count infractions they have.

'Nuff said.
