Not happy with my new smart phone.

I nfact, bitterly disappointed.

Got my new LG GW in today, the service map showed I was well into 3G, and I was within 4GLTE ranges but I could expect, while at the shop to be in and out of 4G, but 3G shouldnt be an issue.

Well, If I go outside and hold it up in the air, I can ge 1 bar of 4G for a few moments, then it loses all signal, goes to 3 bars of "nothing"...then 1-2 bars of 3G..then no bars of 3G...

Attempts ot get online, download apps, etc..95% of the time, result in timing out, lost connection, hell it took 30 minutes for the "auto handsfree authentication" so I could even use it.

This blows nuts..

Im outside of Pensacola, FL. Im about 3 miles as the crow flies, from a Cell tower...and everyone that comes over can stream videos, download apps...no one has ever had a problem.

I swear, im doomed to not have anything nice, I just put full coverage on my truck because I just know some pissant is going to f8ck it up too..

I'd call the customer service and ask for tech support.

When I upgraded my iPhone 4 to a 5, for some reason it almost always showed 3G in areas that it used to indicate 4G / LTE.

Turned out there was a problem with the software. I reinstalled it per the tech's instructions and from then on, it has worked like a champ.

Sprint sucks. That's part of your problem. Back when i had it for my work phone i would send an email while roaming and it would sit in the outbound que on my phone forever until i got close to a cell tower and then it would go through.. I'm talking like an hour or more.. No bullshit.

You get what you pay for. I would bring it back and switch to Verizon. Serious.

Ive already signed a 2yr contract on this shit...

There are 100 sprint Towers in my area...the various coverage maps show i should get fair 4G and good good to great 3G.

i hate technology, this is why I went 2 years with no phone, they just cant be relied upon,.

I believe you get some type of grace period where you can return the phone. If it doesn't work, who gives a shit what the map says.

Call and complain. If they can't resolve the issue, say you're returning it and want a full refund.

Unless you live deep in the sticks, shitty cell service isn't acceptable.

Can yall look at your settings and see what your signal strength is in dbm?

mine is sitting on 1 bar of 3g, at 105dbm

Go back to where you signed up and talk to the folks there. If they can't make it work right in your area, they will cancel the contract.

What difference does it make what someone else in a different area gets for signal?
Besides, that's going to change every time you look at it. Just moving 10 feet can make a difference.

Zoom in on this map, and compare real coverage (not wishful ad hype)...

Verizon is likely your best bet. AT%T will probably work too.


As other have said, Sprint's coverage is notoriously shitty outside of a major city. (and Pensacola isn't a major city)

You should be able to return it and cancel your contract w/o issue. My sister lives in a very rural area and went through 4 phones/carriers before finding one that actually worked in her house. It's not uncommon at all.

Verizon or AT&T

If most of my friends and family didn't have AT&T, I would have switched to Verizon along time ago. That said, American Telephone & Telegraph have served me adequately.

We have ATT/Bellsouth for years now, Samsung Rugby phone still offered, it's no my hip.....what good is a Cphone if you don't have it on your HIP??? really.....


I just spend a billion bux on upgrading wife's crappy cphone to another couple of Samsung devices....one is a S4 something or other, the other is a LARGE screen about book size, and is some kind of WIFI device.....I too old to understand much of this shit anymore.....scared to touch it as the screen explodes into too many color for me to concept at once.....
