Default National Breast Cancer Month --hits too close to home

Just a reminder for all of you and yes that means you guys too to get checked. My 28 yr old coworker was recently diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. She went to the "doctor" after finding a lump last week and the "doctor" told her it was fine and she was young. She insisted several times on a biopsy and it's a good thing since they found breast cancer that had already spread to her lymph nodes. She has a long road ahead of her with no guarantees of the outcome.

It sucks. I'll keep your coworker in my thoughts.

My MIL is 10 years breast cancer free.

One of my closest friends was recently diagnosed with a very aggressive (and rare) form of breast cancer - it can grow and spread in under a year. It's her second bout with breast cancer and this time it had spread to lymph nodes. She has a two-month-old at home and the prognosis isn't very good.

Kevin's mom is 3 yrs out from treatment. So far, thankfully, she is clear.

Prayers for your coworker, mec5lady.

Stangkiller...you know way too well how close to home it can be. HUGS

This is THE charity that I contribute to the most, and heavily I might add.

I don't understand why every red-blooded male in the world doesn't contribute heavily either. After all, it's not just for women anymore either. Many men are being afflicted with this as well.

As for me, I'm such a huge fan, I want to save them ALL!!! Don't want to see ANY of them go away!!

A Healing Petition for Breast Cancer Patients

May God heal me,

May my pain cease,

I have a life long friend battling breast cancer. She's halfway through the chemo. After that then they have to remove the breast.
There is a history in my family as well.

Default Thank you for reminding all of us!

I will be taking care of that and some other things at the doctor's this month. Had to have 'further testing' done about 1-2 yrs ago when a mammo showed something. I am glad I have a doc who errs on the side of caution.

Sorry to hear about your co-worker and all others mentioned here suffering from this disease.

PS-We still need to do lunch to celebrate your birthday (before it turns into Christmas).

for your co-worker Gail. Thankfully she listened to her brain and fought for the biopsy.

It makes me really sad to hear that a doctor could still be saying that a person is "too young" to have breast cancer. Make me really mad too.

At 18, long before mammograms, a lump was found in my left breast. I came home from college and saw a surgeon who said that I was too young to have anything to be worried about. He said we should just "watch it for 6 months". He didn't want me to have surgery and scar me needlessly.

I went home and spent about 2 hours thinking about it. I called him and said "I don't want to watch anything. I want it gone! Now!" He said ok and I met him in the ER the next morning for a lumpectomy. The only thing I ever knew about the lump was hearing him say "Hmmm, good thing we took it out"

My mother was horrified that I would dare to argue with a doctor. He was also a family friend and the father of a good friend. She had a very different opinion the next day.

Within a couple months I heard from 2 friends that were "watching" a lump. After hearing what I did, they both had them removed within days. One girl was convinced that it saved her life.
