Default Wrecked Car - Sell or Keep?

I was rear ended 3 weeks ago while stopped at a light in my Focus RS. So far they are over $15k in repairs with a lot of structural damage including the frame, trunk floor pan, suspension parts, a broken frame on the drivers seat, and broken interior panels. They are over 100 hours of labor so far.

Allstate warranties the work for as long as I own the car but with so much structural damage, I’m concerned it won’t ever be the same and I might not even notice any issues until further down the road. I’ve also talked to them about a diminished value claim.

I’m wondering what you guys would do. Keep the car and chance it or sell it?

Let them total it, buy it back way cheaper, gut it and turn it into a corner carver or a track car.

Fix it. Insurance totaled my daughter’s Fiesta. Took the money, had it fixed. It’s as good as new and no car payment.

A Ford Focus with damage that severe? I would dump that like the remnants of a Flex chili dinner on Koko's roof.

YW.
They won’t total it. It’s only at 50% of repair value. There needs to be another $15k in damage before they total it.

It won't ever be the same. If I could afford to, I'd send it down the road, if it were me

My Inlaws owned a car that was hit extremely hard when literally on the way home from the dealership I can tell you even though the body shop made it absolutely perfect looking it was a rattle trap and ate tires later on. It was a new model and year and had to wait 6 months for all the parts even. Ended up being 60 to 70 % of value to fix it when all said and done. That car should have been kept a few months and dumped due to the amount of damage. Minor damage is one thing but sounds like your car will never be the same and issues will pop up later.

I picked up my current Explorer on 11/20/18. On the way home from the dealer, I'm going down a fairly main road near my house at around the 40 mph speed limit, and some douchebag pulls out right in front me. Full panic stop, 4 wheel ABS engaged kind of stop that left my front bumper about 6 inches from his driver door (because of course the best way to react when you realize you just pulled out in front of someone is to stop directly in their path), but no impact. So I was 'this close' to having the same experience as your parents!
