Default What is the correct protocol?
My doctor moved his place of business to a location next to the railroad tracks. As most are aware, I watched a train derail in my back yard. I went to his new location once before the trains became longer and faster. Now I have no desire to go back. How do I switch to a different doctor? I just went to the ER Sunday night and they took my current doctor's name. I do not know if they sent him everything from Sunday or if I have to see a doctor before they send it. I got a recommendation of another doctor that is much closer and right next to the hospital.

IMO - Have you done the math on the odds of a train derailment? Seems a bit silly to think that in your lifetime and the 141,000 miles of track in this country that you have the dear of being involved in a rail related accident. Not to mention that there are laws that prevent buildings from being constructed too close to rail lines for the reason at hand.


But if you want a new doc...pick up your phone and make appointment with whomever you please.

contact your health plan provider, and ask for a referral. They'll steer you towards someone different - but in the same overall system. Makes transferring of everything simple & easy.

All your medical records are in the cloud, and can be accessed by any MD that you give permission to.

What I do is pick another doctor make an appointment and start anew. I don't need a referral.

This is an old building. I also am not thrilled with the quality of patients that haunt that office. Think drug addled white trash.

My regular doc can't see me until the 31st, so going with a coworker that can see me the 26th. The new doc that was recommended can't get me in for 2 weeks and said I need to follow up the ER visit with my current doc.

Not the building, just that it's been there for a long time, probably before the regulations regarding closeness to tracks.

First of all, sorry about your situation. I'm not going to judge you.

Why not just check with your insurance company and find an in network Primary Doctor, google his name and see if there are any Yelp or Health Grades reviews?

Drug use. Prostitutes and truckers. The Methquitoes are bad up there. I have an appointment for next Thursday, but if my nasal spray is what is making me feel normal then I should see an ENT doctor instead.
