Default They should have ample heat this winter
We've been a little busy this summer. Ripped out an old 800 ton chiller, relocated a plate and frame heat exchanger good for 650 tons of free cooling in winter, and put in 2 new 5 million btu boilers. Also ripped out 32000 pounds of 12, 14 and 18 inch pipe.

It's only 450,000 square feet, but a high rate of makeup air as it's pharma packaging and research.

Solar panels work best during winter, at night, for preheating all of the makeup air required in modern manufacturing and packaging plants. We only get a few months of that here, the rest of the year.

I serviced the biggest plate heat exchanger I've ever seen at 3M some years ago. The plates were 6 feet tall by 4 feet wide and the were hundreds of them. The end plates were an inch thick squeezed together by 1-1/4" diameter rods.

We took every single plate off, removed the gasket material, installed new and put it all together. Those things have to go together in a specific order. You do NOT want to put a plate in backwards.

Typically something this big would be a shell and tube setup.
