Have not consumed a drop of booze in this house since February of 2009. All this box wine talk may push me over the edge to pull out my emergency bottle of Balvenie doublewood.

Black Box Cabernet is actually pretty good.

Lets actually visit why boxed wine is good. Wine like beer is affected by light. No light in a box. If you open wine, unless you have an expensive inert gas pump system, air will ruin it. Boxed wine is in a Mylar bag. As the wine is poured, the bag collapses and no air is introduced. Thus the wine is the same every.single.time.

If you pour a good boxed wine in a carafe, people think you are suave and with it. If you pour the same from a box, you are trailer trash. This argument is much like bottled beer VS canned beer. Canned beer is actually better than bottled beer. Because cans aren’t affected by light.

If it's crap going into the mylar bag, it's just going to be well preserved crap coming out of the mylar bag.

It's my habit that if I'm opening a bottle of wine, the intent is to finish it, not recork it. So I always plan on 4 glasses per bottle amongst whomever is drinking it.

That being said, if you like boxed wine you're lucky, you're drinking for a lot less $$$ than those that dont. And it all just boils down to "do you like it or not" in the end.

Yes. And the gal in charge of Kirkland Wine Brands only buys the very best.

Trust me. Buy a 3L box of Kirkland Cab and give it a shot.

I drizzle that shit out in a carafe and serve it to people who rave about it

The only one i know of that's from the Stags Leap district actually says "Stags Leap" on the bottle. Does the box you're talking about have that written on it?

There are 2-3 other Kirkland Cabs, 2 Oregon and 1 "California" and all 3 suck ass.

Snobs like you keep snobbish wineries in business. I spent 11 years in Napa valley. I brewed beer. I’ve been to Champagne France and Wurzburg Germany. I’ve seen how they treat wine and beer. They hide it from the sun. Keep thinking what you are drinking is soooooo much better. Keep those nose in the air wineries in business. I’ll drink fantastic wines and beer from people that understand how to keep their product as they want. Not based on a bottle and a cork.
