Default "Death Wish!" coming on March 2...
Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of his city's violence when it is rushed into his ER - until his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and college-age daughter (Camila Morrone) are viciously attacked in their suburban home. With the police overloaded with crimes, Paul, burning for revenge, hunts his family's assailants to deliver justice. As the anonymous slayings of criminals grabs the media's attention, the city wonders if this deadly avenger is a guardian angel or a grim reaper. Fury and fate collide in the intense action-thriller "Death Wish!".

I hope this movie will encourage you to read the novel it's based on (the Charles Bronson films were likewise based on the novel); the novel makes it clear that the plot isn't based on revenge or justice. If you watch the 1974 "Death Wish" today, it’s startling how anti-vigilante it is. The real reason is given in the book: It's about a man who wants to die.

most movies based on books: i've not read the book.

movies should be self contained. you shouldn't have to read some book, or have seen some other movie to have it make sense and be entertaining.

I never knew WTH the title was supposed to mean, anyway. I thought it was a weird way of expressing that he wished the bad guys were dead.
