Can't believe nobody has mentioned the ultimate survival weapon, used for everything to taking down small game to perhaps even infiltrating a bank vault - the ever useful Barrett .50 cal rifle. Pair it with a few pounds of C4, some detonators, and a few Claymores and you will be one surviving mofo.

That kinda points to my original question.

In a survival "lost in the woods, hunting to eat" situation, carrying items would be limited.

a 1000 rounds of .22 could easily be carried and last longer vs. 5.56 (or others).

or

thinking like the 10/22 with the takedown Magpul stock.
You can carry 40-70 round secured in the rifle and another 1000 pretty easily.
