Aruba and Curacao ... swimming and diving better in Aruba but less to do - LOTS to see and do in Curacao I really enjoy going downtown there. Rockier beaches though ...

We've only gone to the French side when we've been there (3 cruises), but the French side got hit the hardest. A lot of the beach was washed away and many of the hotels were damaged. Also a lot of beach bars were washed away and there was only one open at Orient beach when we were there in Oct.

Following Hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017, the Resort and St. John were devastated and opening Caneel Bay was impossible. Since then, efforts are being diligently undertaken with Federal and local authorities to attend to the business realities necessary to rebuild Caneel Bay, recognizing that this is critical to both the employment and the overall economic health of the U.S. Virgins Islands.

In determining the future of Caneel Bay, Laurance Rockefeller’s legacy will be central to the planning process. The low-impact, mid-century modern style of the architecture will remain and the interior design will capture elements of the natural environment. Sustainability practises aimed at reducing the carbon footporint of the Resort will feature in every decision made.

While plans are coming together and a time-line towards re-opening established, Caneel Bay is closed through to the end of 2019 and further updates will be made available in the coming months. In the meantime, thank you for your patience and understanding.

I like Dutch and floss. Definitely looking into all inclusive destinations now as consideration. For as much beer as I drink, that could be a win for me.

As many ginbreezes, beer, mojitos, its all good. The food outside is good, but you have been around so nothing new IMHO. When we can do this as a couple for less than 4,500 usd including air a cruise can't compete...…..some Aruba rentals look interesting if you go with 4 paying for the 4 bedrooms pool......rental car for the week... across the street from the ocean
