I do still have my VHS. How am I supposed to watch my Pink Floyd/The Wall movie otherwise? It's a VHS copy, I was too cheap to spring for a Laserdisc player.

Well, you could go buy the local for $80. Bring it home, pull the guts out and install in your original shell and there ya go!

As someone who places sentimental value at about 1000 x actual value, I'd get it fixed.

We had friends had the exact same question back in 2013. I told them to junk it. She said "what will I play my CDs on" ? I told him/her - rip all your CDs to a server, then buy a nice portable sonos unit. You can get all your radio stations on that, plus play all your ripped CDs. They did it - they loved it. Now they have 4 sonos boxes of various types sprinkled around the house.

Default Massive Update!

Just for grins, I plugged in the radio, put fresh batteries in (used for backup of time and presets), plugged it in and, viola, the am radio works, but not the fm. I do listen to our local news talk station anyway. The time, display, and alarm clock functions seem to work, too. I'll continue using the phone as a primary, and just see if the Bose continues to function for a while.

Of course, the whole point of the Bose was supposed to be good sound, totally wasted on the am band.

Could be an antenna wire.

And while I'm looking, I see a seller very near by has the exact same radio, described as fully functional....basically exactly what I have, for $ 80. I'm considering contacting them and seeing if they will do a local sale. Pro: Cheaper than the first option. Con: It WON'T be the radio my parents gave me.
Another option is to buy the working radio and transfer the guts into your borked one. This is not much different than having your existing unit repaired, but at a much lower cost (important when you're a Geezer on a fixed income ). Kind of the best of both worlds.

I saw that. It actually came with a T shaped copper strand antenna just like that, but my radio has a coaxial style connector on it, and I've tried wiring the actual original antenna to a coax adapter, and no joy. Sadly, the original connection was frayed at the point where the wires met the connector, that couldn't be remedied, so I just used a Radio Shack coax to two wire adapter.

No joy on FM.

Thought about that, too. However, if I actually decide to pick up the LKQ radio, I'll probably just leave well enough alone and use it as is. I was unable to repair my paper shredder, why would I think I could do a R&I on a 20+ year old radio?

Does anybody know where I can get a new OEM sparkwheel for my Bic lighter? Not some Chinesium aftermarket crap.

The best part of the OP is the pictures of the unit, and details of how old it is, what features it has, etc. Not that it matters much, since most of the responses will be bullshit like this one either way. But if anyone wants info from someone who has at least a little experience with Bose equipment, stuff like that could be really helpful.

Could be an internal connection to that coax is damaged.

Features? It's a 20+ year old clock radio that sounded great and was wildly over priced for the time.

You may want to research but I am pretty sure that there are videos of people soaking yellowed plastic in Peroxide and it turning white again.

Here is one.

I think it was like $400 in 1998 when I got mine. That's about $750 in today money.

I tried a second option, an old TV antenna I had....coax style connector housing connected to rabbit ears and the round UHF antenna. I know it works because I loaned it to a friend who moved and didn't have cable yet, or any kind of antenna. He said it picked up most of the Houston stations, just that little cheapo antenna, so it should have at least tried to pick up an fm station, but no joy. I'd buy the antenna you have there if I thought it would work, but I think the problem is in the radio, not that I have TWO bad antennas.

Having said that, I was just surfing, it looks like my radio was made in the mid 90's, so at least a quarter century old. There's a "fix" by unplugging it, waiting an hour, holding the on/off button for a minute, then plugging it in while still holding the on/off button....a reset of sorts. I'm going to try that. l

Does it "seek" or "search" for FM or can you manually number by number go from 89.3 to 108 (or whatever)?

Sorry Bill, this was meant to be a question. I left the ? off the end.
