For that damage I'd heat everything up and pull back into position myself. It'd take a bit of doing to get it perfect but very doable.

NFW I'd want that car "repaired".

I agree but Allstate won't total a car if the repair cost is less than 100% of the value.

I could've rolled that bitch and as long as the repairs didn't add up to $30k, they would just "fix" it. I'm going to be shopping for new insurance once I get it back.

No one asked if you were ok, hopefully you are because some of us care about you.

That being said, turn that sumbitch into a track car!

Aww thanks man! Yes I am fine. If I didn't need the money from that car to buy it's replacement, I would definitely make it a track bitch.

IF that is true (seems very suspect) then your buy back on a totaled car should be ZERO because at that point it has NO value at all. It is 100% damaged. That indicates there is no salvageable parts on any car Allstate totals.

I had Allstate for decades and I never heard of such a thing.

I currently have State Farm and when my Corvette was wrecked, the damage was well below 50% and they allowed me to make the call on whether to total it or not.

You should give them a call. I have spoke to my agent and the insurance adjuster and both stated they would not total until repairs equal more to replace the car than repair. Why would they pay me for a totaled car when it’s cheaper for them to fix it? They fully trust their recommend shop to adequately repair the vehicle.

I just wish with the amount of structural damage there is, they would just say for safety reasons, they'll total it.

My MIL's Kia had $7,200 in damage, value about $14k they totaled it in two days. Not State Farm, they screwed me over when I was a kid.... never again.

I may be missing something, but shouldn't the insurance of the person that rear ended you be paying for it?

You really need to get a judgment against them. Even if you can't collect.

Are you in Kalifornia? Seems like that happens more there than anywhere else in the driving fail videos.

I have suspected for a while that it depends on the car. When my daughter got into basically a fender bender in my wife's Camry, it seemed like the insurance company couldn't wait to total that car and pay out "market value" for it. I suspect it is because the market value on it was relatively low, like $3000, and they could probably make twice that selling the spare parts because there are still so many on the road.
