I had a classmate in Jr. High and High school named "Urs". Urs was always a little "troubled". After we graduated, Urs got a job working at the animal hospital where my Mom would take her GSD, Kristie. Whenever Mom took Kristie to the vet, she would go find Urs, and cuddle with him until it was her turn to see the doctor. A few years after graduation, Urs put a shotgun in his mouth, and pulled the trigger.

Wow! Your moms cuddles have a devastating affect on people.

I'm assuming he actually cuddled with the dog and not your mom

You should read what you wrote again. Are you talking about Kristie or your mom?

The pronoun "she" refers to the latter female in the sentence, which is, of course, Kristie. I actually thought about changing "she" to "Kristie" because I suspected one of you jamokes would try to make a thing about it, but decided against it.

If you paid attention in 3rd grade English class, there would be no ambiguity. But I guess you were too busy with your fidget spinner.

Ah, so another order-of-operations thing that none of the rest of us were ever taught in school.

Gotcha!

I expected better. Google "pronoun antecedent", and there are a lot of confused people making all kinds of unclear arguments. Surely one of them will agree with your position if you care to look hard enough. Come on, this is grammar on an internet off-topic message board, in other words, SERIOUS BUSINESS!

I think many of us already knew what the so called scientists discovered just by watching how our dogs acted toward people who came to our homes.

Your bad. Not mine. You knew, yet took no heed.

I had the opportunity to consult with an actual English teacher recently, and here's what she had to say:

Quote:
I would say that "Mom" is the subject of the sentence, "took" is the verb, and "Kristie" is the direct object (and "the vet" is the indirect object), and the pronoun "she" is referring to the subject which is "Mom."
Cliffs: Moe is wrong yet again.
