I feel that BMW (as well as Mercedes) lost it’s way (or, mainstream has caught up and sometimes surpassed), with no end in sight. Obviously, ‘king of the hill’ performance’ goes a long way toward its attraction, but it didn’t used to be that you had to dig deep down with rationalizing them.
