Huh, the video clearly shows the car wearing Dunlop Direzza tires. Wonder if they're going with Dunlop's on the final production car...

The Corvette Stingray rides on new 18 x 8.5-inch front and 19 x 10-inch rear wheels, while models with the Z51 Performance Package roll on 19 x 8.5-inch front and 20 x 10-inch rear forged aluminum wheels. New Michelin Pilot Super Sport run-flat tires developed specifically for the seventh-generation Corvette deliver comparable levels of grip than the wider tires of previous models.

As a result, the track-oriented Corvette Stingray with the Z51 Performance Package is capable of 1g in cornering acceleration – comparable to the 2013 Corvette Grand Sport. Significantly, that is achieved with narrower and lighter wheels and tires. The reduced “footprint” reduces rolling resistance, steering effort and road noise, contributing to a more nimble feel, more immediate steering response and greater touring comfort and efficiency.

From the press kit.

Michelin was an improvement, but I think the Direzza's will be a major step forward.

AND, we're still talking about the base car.

Maybe it will look better in person. Did anyone else notice or pick up the guy was saying the GS was their performance model?? I thought it was the ZR-1 and/or the Z-o6.
Is that the same guy that said the new "Corvat"? Where to they get these people, Leno would have done a better job announcing........."The New Camaroooooo.............oops."

I figured Michelin would still be in the picture. Those are great tires too. The narrower tires, and lighter weight, is appreciated, and it certainly helps with steering feel, but I suspect the higher end cars will, and should be, wider.

The difference in steering feel on my Z between 275 and 315 fronts is dramatic. Each has it's own purpose. At the end of the day, the wider footprint provides better lateral grip. I change tire widths based on the track need.

Saw the video. Well, I was saving up for one, but it sucks. My black 69 and my fxr3 will have a revolt if I put that ricer shit in my garage.

Maybe time to look at the c6 again. The again, to be fair, I should see one in person first.
