...and you are basing this on what?

I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that if you compiled numbers you would find that on average, conservatives are more educated than liberals. I would be willing to bet again that the gap is a large one between the parties. If you took out the voters who could not name even a single political stance of the specific candidates the Democrats wouldn't stand a chance.

See how I did that when I don't feel like looking for a source? I presented it as an opinion, not a fact.

Seriously?

Do all Republicans drop dead at 65?

Hell, I'd be willing to bet that since conservatives probably contribute more into SS, they take way more out.

You presented it as a fact

You did not disappoint. Nice job.

Ok so what you're saying is a felon is not a US citizen? Really?
For crying out loud. A felon who is a US citizen has FORFEITED his right to vote. It was not taken from him, he gave it up. You seriously can't see that?

I can't believe I actually have to address this.

Once you are over 65 you get Social Security and Medicare. Its not given out based on who you voted for, its given out based on how much you put in.

Since the general consensus here is republicans are far wealthier than democrats, why do you then think its such a stretch to say what I did?

Seriously?

I could again make the point that if republicans put more into the program, they pull more out. But that's not what I said.

Its such a stupid discussion, if you think I'm wrong, prove me wrong.

So either a felon is no longer a citizen or they are not guaranteed the same rights as others.

Pick your poison.
You are truly clueless.

There are no degrees of American. There is no caste system. You guys who think you are "more American" or should have more rights than a homeless guy need to seriously reevaluate your thinking. What part of "All men are created equal..." don't you understand?

You really want a place where your ability to cash a paycheck determines how much say you have in the laws that govern your life? Remember - there is always a bigger fish. At what point in that continuum do Bill Gates or Warren Buffett or George Soros decide who gets elected?

I'm all for the way Texas does it - you must show an ID and you can get one for free.

not many would disagree with this post.

however, wouldn't it make sense for voters to be qualified.

hell, it's easier to vote than it is to get a drivers license. It's easier to vote than it is to pull a building permit.

Voters should be qualified by showing proof of age and citizenship. ANY other benchmark is going to be against the very spirit of the Constitution.

"All men are created equal", sure... then shortly after birth, equality is replaced by rapidly-increasing disparity in physical condition, intelligence, drive, willpower, etc.

People are not all equal; people do not all have equal worth to society; pretending otherwise is one of the pinnacles of feel-good philosophical folly.

Irrelevant. Check Article 5. The constitution was meant to be amended, and we have amendments regarding voting qualifications. Those amendments DO represent the true spirit of the constitution with regard to voting qualifications.

The simple solution is to stop focusing on trying to prevent people who have no skin in the game from voting, and start focusing on simply taking away their ability to vote themselves goodies at the expense of others.

Repeal the 16th amendment, outlaw withholding and government intrusion into our personal finances, fund government through sales taxes. You can't discriminate against people on the basis of wealth or income if you don't know how wealthy they are or what their income is.

You can't vote to make someone else pay more taxes but not you if we simply have one uniform sales tax, blindly assessed at the point-of-sale with no regard to race, ethnicity, income, or any other personal characteristic.
