Makes it easier for you Scotch drinkers to take it in the keister.

Keister is Scottish for ass.

I can't imagine spending $200 on a bottle of booze, scotch or bourbon.

I've done it maybe 5 times in my life at most. If UD jumped up and said that based on his yellow pad analysis, I had only done it 3 times, I wouldn't argue.

A couple of years ago, at Christmas time, we had a "perfect storm" of folks who really enjoy expensive beers, and planned a get-together. I bought 2 4-packs of Dogfish Head 120 minute IPA at about $10 per bottle, and a couple of other very expensive beers that weren't quite that pricey, put them in a cooler, and we all enjoyed some of the fruits of my labors. It was a "playmate" cooler that had about $200 of beer in it. Others at the same get-together also brought unusual, hard-to-get beers that were very expensive. We probably went through more than $500 in beer in 2 hours. Good times. We still talk about it once in a while.

I would do it again in a heartbeat. Why do I bother to make the money I make if I am not going to enjoy it with my friends and family when the opportunity presents itself?

It's nice to have a good scotch to bring out for special occasions but my regular drink is much more affordable and lasts me for 3 months. Much less when my next door neighbor comes over for movie night.

I always enjoy finding hidden gems that are really affordable due to the lack of hype.

Somebody mentioned a Highland Park earlier and that stuff is outstanding. They finally sold one of the last bottle of Dark Orgins and I wish I had more.

I like the Glenmorangie 18 that you do and the price is great. I also like the $360 bottle of Macallan 18 as a substitute for the 21 and 25. I have zero issue spending that amount, but understand that "with the new facts as of late", this is an easy thing for me. I still want to restock the 25 year Mac, but can absolutely see having an 18 year on hand at all times.

I could too, I'd just have to buy one and not drink it. I only have it in me to do one of those, not both.

I worked hard for over 40 years so I could spend that, or a lot more, on a bottle of booze, an expensive car or vacation, or whatever else we want. It's just money and you can't take it with you when you die.

I'm not ripping on you or anyone else in this thread, for spending their hard earned money on something they enjoy. How you earn or spend is none of my business, and frankly, I don't care. What I'm saying is that I'm very unlikely to spend $200 or more on a single bottle of booze.

If you are a Scotch drinker I want you to try something. I am a big fan of pairings. First pairing a 50/50 mix of Aberlour 12 and Aberlour A'Bunadh. Both are great on their own but a mix is amazing. Before drinking this chew on a couple of Kalamata olives. Sip the scotch. Smoke your favorite cigar if that's your thing. I find this amazing.

Let me know. The brininess of the olives with the scotch is an amazing pairing as well as the cigar.

Never heard of that. I do enjoy a fine cigar with good Scotch so might have to try that.

The Aberlour A'Bunadh is a high proof Scotch, about 85 bucks a bottle. The 12 is average and 54 bucks or so. Blended 50/50 they are amazing. I am a nicaraguan fan, mostly Crowned Heads, Tatuaje, and My Father cigars.

I usually have a My Father cigar on the golf course. With Scotch I prefer Padron cigars.

"Settled."

I love whiskey as much as the next guy (and even moreso than @Knooger) but I would never pay more than $200/bottle for it.

However, I'm willing to let you convince me otherwise. Pour me a flight of Macallans of various ages and I promise to keep an open mind.

I'm sipping on this - definitely an interesting concept. The label says "Sugar Cookie" but that sweetness is entirely on the nose - the finish is pure Maker's Mark.

I have zero doubt that if any of us were at Craig's place he would love sharing the good scotch.
