I take it on Sunday nights only, since I have to get up at 4:30 to go do my weekly volunteer job at the hospital. I sleep later every day of the week. They have made the pills 5mg instead of 10 like they used to be. (I used to break them in half)

I took them for awhile a few years ago, and I never had any bad side effects. I will say if I start using them daily I can become dependent on them, so that's why only once a week. When my wife took them a few years ago, she would get up in the middle of the night and cook and eat and not remember it. One night she made four bags of microwave popcorn and ate every bit of it. I've had no such episodes.

I think anyone prone to sleepwalking should probably stay away from the stuff, though.

One time I found some pork in the freezer, thawed it out, and cooked half of it up and ate it, then put the rest back in the fridge.

The next day I found out it wasn't ours and a neighbor who didn't have a fridge had asked to store it..

Ambien does weird crap to people. A friend of mine was on a cruise with his family a couple of years ago. They woke up at 3am hearing someone in the hall outside their room... they opened the door and found his 40 year old brother standing in the hallway wearing Spongebob Squarpants Boxers throwing lunch meat at his door.

I took some neurontin for restless leg syndrome a week or so ago. Got up in the middle of the night and unloaded the dishwasher. I have no memory of that.

I woke up one day a few years back wondering why the concrete floor was wet beside the bed and asked my wife if it rained the night before thinking we had a roof leak.

She told me I just woke up in the middle of the night, stood beside the bed and took a piss, then went back to sleep.
