That's what I can't figure out.the thumbnails don't show up. If I right click and open with. Options are nx2 and windows picture viewer. picture viewer doesn't work. But I don't necessarily want to open it, just have the thumbnails show up in explorer.

Yeah, I saw that. Not sure I understand it. Thought it meant I just needed nx2 installed which I have.

Photography is my hubby's hobby, more on the "glamour" side of course. I just asked him and he said that the NEF (RAW) file is not recognized by Windows photo viewer. He uses a Ulead product for quick viewing of NEF and jpeg files.
He also mentioned that Windows photo viewer distorts true color and contrast. To develop the NEF / RAW file, Adobe Lightroom is what he uses with no problems at all. He takes pictures with either the Nikon D700 or D90, both with pro lenses. Figured I could lend a bit of info, not sure if it helps or not. |

You need a codec (code/decode add in) for you brand of camera for Windows 7. Visit here: PSD, CR2, NEF, DNG codecs (and more) for Windows 7, Vista and XP (FastPictureViewer Codec Pack) and it will give you an idea of what you need. Chances are your camera manufacterer has a freebie download to support Windows 7. |
