Yappa-dappa-doo! I've finished planting ground cover!

For the past 2 months I've been planting pachysandra under my bald cypress trees at the front of the house. 3200 +/- plants in all. In 100 degree heat. I'm getting too old for this sheit.

One end of the oval driveway (it's acually a much bigger area than it seems in the pic; since I planted them on 12" centers, there's about 1600 s.f. in each area):

It ain't bad for35 years old and built on Yazoo clay with cypress trees nearby. At least the house has no cracks.

I share your pain. I got 3 ears of corn, 2 zuchinnis, and 3 tomatoes out of the whole damn garden. I figure the area will make a nice spot for flowers.

Man you oughta just plant Okra and Peppers in the summer time, they are the only thing to survive and then thrive in the heat and humidity in the south. If you plant tomatoes just plant them in an area that does not get afternoon sun and you can water and protect from wind and sun.
Plus plant then early, just as early as you can after the last frost, although if they do get a little frost a quick spray with the water hose will save them.

Unk, I did plant okra, except it was in one of the planters without a deer fence. You know what happened. Weather has gotten so erratic around here that it's hard to figure when the last frost is. Last year we had snow in mid-April. This year I did plant early, around April 20, but by the time everything came up it was 100 degrees. Just a bad year.
