Most excellent when your work ethic and personality puts you in earshot of people that can help you in many, and sometimes unexpected, ways.

It is something I try to teach my kids all the time. Hard work, integrity, and selling yourself is everything in providing for yourself/family.

Hey - great job Craig. We are all proud of you here at the VB. Hope it leads to more good things. I had a period at my work - similar - 13 years ago ... wife says "careful, they will kick you upstairs" - I said no, they want me here .... one friday I get called in - my old boss - GONE ... two others at her level - GONE - I get a 3 level bump to director and get to appoint new managers to those old job slots - now reporting to me - and I in turn to our VP. It let me retire young and have two nice houses.

I'm still not sure about underlings....people let me down with their lack of work ethic and I get stressed. We'll see what happens.

Lead by example and see who follows in your footsteps and makes a conscious effort to jump out of them.

It will come in handy if or when you move up.

I have great work ethic, but know exactly zero about cloud computing, so I would be a disappointment to you! I have sort of a basic grip on it, but let's just say I am probably better off working on airplanes!
