Glad you're ok and only the cars got damaged.

Absolutely correct. You should get close to full retail, plus the tax, title and license costs selling it to the insurance company.

Hopefully it doesn't take too long to have them check it out. I called State Farm today before lunch to see if they knew when someone would look at it and all I got was 6-1/2 minutes of what I already knew.

damage to my Suburban

Might not be totaled but it's probably a couple grand damage.

If they don't total it, I'll have my mechanic look at the front end so make sure it's safe to drive. I'll just pull the bumper out to clear the tire and zip tie the turn signal back into place

FFS, don't let on to State Farm that is your plan. They have seen it all before and will smell it out and end it fast and cheap and cut a check. Although, you would likely come out smelling like a rose with a check and trading it in like that.

Most people wouldn't have collision coverage on a vehicle that age to begin with, so the adjuster is going to know you are different. I would guess the last thing they want to do is fix it at a body shop, so you may want to consider going that route to throw them off. The check often gets bigger that way.

Accident wasn't my fault. Her coverage will be paying for MY vehicle

Michigan is a no-fault state, so I was looking at it from that perspective.

Having said that, along with having to negotiate insurance settlements on cars & boats over a few years, insurance companies are always anxious to close out claims. It really fucks them up when you screw them up on their timetable.

PA is also no fault but since I had the right of way and she pulled out from a stop sign, it made it quite obvious who would be paying.
