$2700 is on par with the Macallan 25, but for 30 year. I'm not sure I'd buy it without sampling it first. I've tried a lot of high-end scotches, but I always fall back to Macallan.

Estero still has the Macallan 25 for $2,349.99. May have to entertain after bonuses get paid on 9/30.

Also, as soon as I ready "smoky", it's not for me. I don't like that style of scotch.

They could probably knock a couple hundred off the price if they packaged it in a simple box instead of that "look at me, I spent megadollars for some nice whiskey but all I have left is this stupid fake barrel!"

I've had 3 different Aberlours, none THAT pricey, but all were delicious.
I have no doubt that this would be on par with other higher end Scotches.
Although I've not had the 25, I have had the 12 and 18 yo Macallans, and the 12 tastes better IMHO than 18. Not sure their 25 would be great, to support that price tag.

Now the Balvenie 21 Portwood? ALL DAY LONG!!!
Best I've ever tasted!

The Aberlour 30 was aged in bourbon, and 2 sherry casks.
I read "slightly" smoky, and I think I would be ok with that.
I do NOT like the Laphroaig smoky, and similar! That's like licking charcoal!! Blech.

At any rate, I'd love a dram of this Aberlour, even though I can't get a bottle.
