US flag bullet holes CBS (CBS/AP) CHICAGO - Four men were killed and 15 others were injured in shootings across Chicago over the weekend, according to CBS Chicago.

The shooting victims include: 22-year-old Jamal Coleman, who was found shot on a sidewalk and later died at a hospital, 37-year-old Robert Hart, who was fatally shot in an alley, 21-year-old Brenden Temple, who killed after being shot once in the head, and 18-year-old Jaleel Pearson, who was pronounced dead at Stroger hospital after being shot in the chest, reports the station.


The station reports 15 other people were wounded in shootings incidents, including two attacks that took place just around the corner from each other.


Last week, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn said he was open to sending National Guard troops or state police to assist Chicago police with curbing violence.


On September 19, thirteen people were wounded in a mass shooting at basketball court. One of the victims was a 3-year-old boy who was shot in the cheek. The shooting happened in an area that Chicago's top police official referred to as a "high gang-conflict zone."


Chicago has long struggled with gun violence and gang-related crimes. The FBI recently released a report that reveals Chicago has surpassed New York City as the murder capital of the U.S., according to the Washington Post.
