Yes, heard that phrase, but sure as hell never heard my grandpa or any of my other family members that served joke about it.

I'll leave that debate for another thread of you want to open it. Wont argue with you about what veterans do or do not find funny. I'm not one.... so I will bow to your 1st hand knowledge of wartime jokery.

Easy, you just don't lead them as far.

While it is a twisted joke, and I found it crude, it was certainly funny to someone somewhere.

My parents will dies one day and it will never be funny to me. That doesn't mean someone somewhere won't.

Elvis died on a toilet. Tragic that he died, tragic that he had to be found that way...but certainly joked about often.

To say something is not funny, is subjective. To say it is not funny to YOU, is a different story.

The only experience I have is from the medical field and hubs being LEO. NEVER ONCE have we sat around and jokeed after running a code on a child and losing them. Every member of the team is sick and devastated. Hubs has never joked about certain things he has seen, some yes, but kids and other topics are off the table.

My perspective still remains, if some asshole finds that chit funny, and I don't, they are still an asshole. If being an asshole is their "coping" I don't have to accept it.

If one of my parents, who are semi-high risk, died of Corona, it would in no way be funny. Not on any planet, in any universe.

The fact that such drama and drastic measures are being taken, for a virus with a 98-99% survival rate, is pathetically humorous.

Some jokes are said with a heavy heart and knowing that you might be the one bringing that death. I'm sure Top has been closer to it than me, but I've contributed to it and then had to do it again and again. I'm sure in the medical field and in the LEO positions you didn't have to deal with that aspect of it.

You are correct, and why I bowed to your experience. People do die in the medical field because of our MISTAKES, not *anything intentional (HOPEFULLY)

All I know is the family members I have spoken to and patients that are vets that share with me their struggles, my heart breaks for the things that you all have to see and do. I know many of those things will be with you till you die.
