It appears to be quite readily transmitted through even casual contact. It also appears to be contagious during the long incubation period prior to presentation of symptoms.
It is several orders of magnitude more deadly than the flu.
As it is a "new" virus there is no community immunity as it is here for the first time.
There will be no viable immunizations for a long time yet.
It is also present in a remarkably large part of the world in a very short time period making regional containment nearly impossible.
If this thing becomes recurrent year to year it will be even bigger than the current flu in terms of number of cases, and will kill many times more people each year.
You all should be concerned about this, and I sincerely hope none of you or your loved ones are infected.

All of our travels have been cancelled at work, both domestic and international. If we travel for personnel vacations we have to inform HR and might be quarantined to work from home for two weeks on return. We cannot even have vendors from outside the plant to come in until the end of March. The company is also sending notice to contractors who are scheduled to come on plant site and advising about travel etc..
I liked what other countries did of telling the media to stop hyping this up.
