Koeksisters
Ok - been wanting to try this for some years now. I'm totally aware of why I waited so long now. This was a mess. Dixie may ban me from the kitchen forever and I honestly wouldn't blame him.
These are called Koeksisters. A South African treat that is a braided dough, deep fried, then dipped in a sweet syrup, and chilled. oh yeah - and they taste friggin' awesome. brb - I have to go scrape burnt sugar off the stove now. |

Here's where I got the recipe.....yes I know you are supposed to chill the syrup, but I'll be honest - that shit didn't work for me. Had to make another batch tonight and dipped those suckers in warm syrup.

They remind me slightly of these.
But these are lighter. They are like crack you can't just eat one. Greek Honey Puffs - Loukoumades | BigOven |
