I think that Friz needs that good old German Hitler Mustache...Pete...
Also since you are in Germany, here is a very important article: Redheads 'have more sex than blondes or brunettes' | Mail Online and if you like blondes, you're in luck: Which country has more blondes in the world? The area surrounding the Baltic Sea has the highest concentration of Blondes. Sweden, Finland and Norway have the most. Then Denmark, Iceland, parts of England and Scotland, and Poland. |

Yes, there is a story behind it. Im attracted to redheads, if my ex would have been a smart bitch and dyed
her hair red probably I would had never kicked her out of the house. Even gingers are sexy and freckles between their boobs are a bonus! |

Today is catch up....just paying bills and getting caught up with household crap has taken most of the day, and it's back to grind tomorrow. PICS are on the way, no fear. This Nikon digital I bought takes good pics, but they are quite high resolution, and I have to shrink them individually before I can load them anywhere. And the full story of this adventure and why we went to Germany in November shall follow. You guys are gonna love it.... I'll give you a hint. His name is Vinnie (Winnie Von Dullinger...German breeders give their dogs the family name), and his nickname is "The Million Dollar Spaniel"....'cause that's damn near what it cost to get him here. |

OK, cliff notes. Dog wasn't for me....it's a Christmas present for my brother in law. My older sis and her husband lived in Germany most of the 80's. They came back stateside late 80's....I used to spend my summers in Germany during my college years. Anyhow, they bought 2 German Cocker Spaniels back around 1984. Both lived to about 13 years old.....and when the dogs died in 1997, they went back to Passau in Bavaria and got two more from the same breeder. Those lived to be 13 and 14, which brings us to 2011....see where this is going? Anyhow....about a month ago, my older sis texted me and asked if I wanted to go to Germany. I said sure....when, next summer? She said "no, next month" I told her "are you out of your mind, it's winter".....and then it dawned on me why we were going. See, her husband now has rapidly advancing emphysema, and is pretty much house bound. He has maybe a couple of years left, if that. And losing the two dogs had put him in a pretty heavy funk. Sis decided to get him one last Spaniel as a Christmas present, but she didn't want to go overseas alone. She told me if Mz Friz and I would buy our plane tickets and rent the car, she'd pick up our room, meals, and expenses. We threw together a trip to Europe in essentially 3 weeks, including getting the time off work and updating wifey's expired passport. That alone was a feat, but we pulled it off. We picked up the dog the last day in Passau, and then headed back to Frankfurt. Getting the dog through Lufthansa's pet policies was a nightmare...it was slightly too large to be carried on and really too young to go in cargo. The papers (German "pet passport") were all in order, but the airline was balking. My sis finally pleaded with the agent until he gave in and green lighted the dog in the cabin after she upgraded to first class and bought a second seat. She boarded the next morning, and 8 hours later, was home in Maryland. Success. We had other issues....the harness my sis brought was too tight to fit the dog, so we had to find a pet shop in Passau and tell them in broken German what we needed. Thanks to our Garmin, we found the place, got the harness, and solved that issue at the 11th hour. So....mission accomplished. Everyone, including Vinnie, is home. My bro-in-law is elated. We figured that retrieving this dog, between the two of us, tipped the scales at just under $9000 American. German breeders don't give away registered dogs either....and with the dollar in the crapper, everything is pricey over there. So it was a fun trip, and we got to see a few things before picking up Vinnie too. I'd do it all again tomorrow. Crazy, huh? |
