Agreed though.
Some production years have had issues with internals, ring lands etc but for the most part they are light weight, powerful, and affordable to rebuild. There's a reason Toyota uses them in their 24 hour Baja trucks. I've beat the snot out of a few LS motors at the track over the years and they just took it. Then again, it also depends on the builder. There are a few shops that made errors when putting these together, particularly in the early LS days. Knew plenty of guys from "local builders" that grenaded their engines in the first season but I'd say virtually all were pushing them too hard or the builder made some critical errors. You spray multiple 200 shots and come out of the hole at 5k plus, you're on borrowed time no matter who built the engine. Scott

I have never owned an LS powered vehicle, but there is a reason that Tuners love them...And Chevy has been making small block pushrod motors for a long time, they have gotten pretty damn good at it. |

They are the only automotive engine certified by the FAA for use in aircraft right out of the crate. I saw one (LS2) at an airshow in a seaplane, and that's what the owner told me.
