Things were better, funner and easier when the USA only had two sexes,,, and most cars had 8 cylinders and were made here.

Swapped many a engine off of a stout tree branch (late 50s early 60s). Another job I have done plenty of was changing clutches or replacing a blown 3 spd trans. In the very beginning had no access to lifts so we safely jacked up the car and worked on our backs. Put the trains on our chest/stomachs and then raise it up while a friend on either side push the trans in. Then we went back out on the streets for more racing!

Course in other adventures we chased girls and went drinking, hunting or shooting in those pre woke times.

The best of times....working on my 69 Mustang from 8pm to 5am in the garage, no internet help, learning about engines as I went along. Installed headers, cam, intake, carb, trans.....etc. Great memories for sure.

My oldest/best friend alive today, his father was friends with an owner of the Exxon station on Conn. ave in Chevy Chase Md.....just north of DC....it was reduced in size via the .gov widening Conn. ave, decades ago...down to just ONE island back when it was ESSO......anyway, Larry knew the owner/manager over the years, and in the evenings we could pull out cars in/out of the 3/main work bay and do shit in a organized fashion......friends with the mechanic there during daytime too.....eventually Larry took care of g/f's cars/etc.....

been a few decades.....SO much construction I dunno if the station even exists anymore.....

That's when you could put a cam and lifters in your engine and they would work and not go flat in 5 minutes like 80% of the flat tappet cams have done for the past 10 years because China.
You told me your SS was a 375HP car and that it had a Powerglide originally which I find perplexing. Folks who bothered to go to the expense of the 375 engine over the 350 and 325 engines pretty much ALWAYS ordered the 4 speed.

The guy in the third picture holding the beer can over his head could be your twin if he was about 8 inches taller! LOL....

Wow nobody mentioned spending a lot of "alone" time in the lingerie section of the Sears & Roebuck catalogue, maybe it was just me...

You're sounding a lot like all those guys with old Chevy pickups or whatever that 'have Corvette motor's' in them. 99.9% of the time, like this time, it's bullshit. But you know that.

In order to be a good liar, you have to be incredibly smart, so you can keep track of all the lies you tell people, or incredibly stupid, in which case it doesn't matter.
