Custom table ideas

Years ago one of my neighbors gave me a large octagonal table that he made and used for years. It was well-aged, pressure treated lumber, butt-ugly but free, and served its purpose. At the time we were furnishing the new cabin so gladly accepted it. The table was about 6' in diameter and took up a lot of space on my 10' wide deck.

This past summer we made the decision to get it gone. Now I need to build something to replace it.

This will set on the rear covered deck, below the kitchen window. The window is the casement type, so with the window open no one can sit there. I'm thinking of a semi-circular shape, or perhaps a section of an oval, with the straight portion set parallel to the house wall, centered under the window.

I also have a gas fire-bowl that I may or may not incorporate into the top. If I use that it will have to be centered some distance from the house.

I'll probably do a bar-height table with seating for four adults.

I'd like to see any examples that someone may have come up with for ideas.

We like the fire bowl. I'm going to set it deep into the table with a 20" glass surround, and mount the controls on the table between it and the back side.

Hotel I stay at in Moab has an outdoor table with a fire bowl in the middle. It’s a great idea. I assume you’re thinking natural gas or propane?

I'm reusing the old fire bowl and pipe from my piped propane system.
