we had some good chats the last few weeks, i think she sensed her time was short too, just didn't know how short.

for the past 5-6 months, she was working furiously on a counted cross stitch of Jenny Lake (the lake by the Grand Tetons). lovely pic of mountains, water, trees, rocks, whatnot. she really wanted to finish it, but alas, she was not able to do so. so perhaps, i'll pick it up this winter and finish it, then make a frame for it (our regular division of work, she spends 6 months on the needle work, I spend a week on the frame - no dummy here!). now i get to both ends of this.

Rob is right, i better start decorating for Christmas soon.....
May I offer a suggestion? What about something a bit "window box" ish with the unfinished piece and a length of thread and needle included? Just a thought that popped in my head as I read this.

As you watched over her, she will be watching over you, knowing and feeling your love for her.

May her rest help you find some peace. May YOU find some peace and comfort in knowing she is with our Father.

I'm so sorry.

I really like this idea. The journey is never really complete, just to be continued. I think this idea with the needle and thread ready to continue really says a lot.

A decision for another day.

when i come to vb just to see what's new and i see "goodbye linda" my stomach drops... and i didn't even know her other than through your glowing stories/memories. I hope you're doing as well as you can be... much sympathy for you and your family.

I was so hoping and praying for a miracle that we could all witness. I suppose most of us have experienced such miracles. But, it didn't come. I was so disappointed. Then the realization hit me. A much bigger, wonderful miracle did happen. Linda Transcended to what we call Heaven. That is truly a miracle and I am happy for her.

Paying for funeral services has to be the most depressing commercial purchase you could think of.

Agreed. We stayed within the Dignity network/franchise and compared locations. They have a pretty simple process which was helpful.

Sorry, I been out of town. My condolences to you sir.

I spent this past spring getting my estate planning done. Funeral and the rest of it is paid for. Just don't want my wife to have an insanely difficult time with it all. She is a bit on the indecisive type. Wife thinks something is up but nothing I know of yet. She is going to start on her stuff soon.

just back from the funeral home. all done. she wanted cremation, so shall she get that. i'll make a really nice box later for her, and someday, put it somewhere. maybe this land, maybe somewhere else. perhaps with me? don't know about that yet.

oh the fees they invent and charge....wow.....

i guess the newest thing is fingerprints: they will finger print your loved one, and then digitally transfer one of those prints to a dog-tag sized pendant, with a 3D version of your loved one's finger print. i think they called that the "loving touch" pendant.

thanks, i have her wedding ring on a chain around my neck, i'm good. and an entire house of things that make me remember her, every wall.....

Mary and I were married by Rev Rich Knight. My mom and his mom met when they signed us up for kindergarten.

By the time Mary and I wanted to get married, Rich was at a church in Maine. We traveled up to Maine for the meeting with the Pastor and one of the things he said to us was "fight".

mary and I both looked at each other said "we don't fight, we don't let anything get that far". Well, he was insistent and we had a "discussion".

Unintended consequences for $200 Alex:

One of you dear knuckleheads sent me a PM with the following note:

“Sir, I know we have not communicated much but I wanted to send my sincere condolences about your wife's passing and just let you know how much your posts have meant to me, They have made me appreciate my wife more with every story you told over the past few months about her. Thanks for than and I hope you find peace in these difficult times.”

Wow.

I don’t tell others how to live their lives. I tell you how I live mine, why, and what the results are. But if have a different idea, go for it.

This really touched me late today.

Something I said/wrote had a positive impact on someone. Amazing. And they told me about it. Incredible.

Thank you.
