Planning on spaghetti and meatballs tonight. knew we had some bison burger in the freezer, go to pull it out and let it thaw for a bit in some water. grabbed what i thought was the bison burger, but then see it was Waygu burger that Linda had bought some months ago, hoping to someday have a Waygu hamburger for dinner some night when she could again injest solid food. that day never came. so i put the Waygu back for another day, i'll enjoy some hamburgers down the road without her. amazing the emotional reaction you can have to something as simple as a pound of ground beef.

after about 20 min on hold with SSA yesterday, finally got a clerk, took some info, said call back in 2 weeks, and we'll try to help you then claim your $255 benefit.

you know she passed away, why can't you just send me the benefit? why all these hoops?

DAB, two questions

1) Do you catch yourself about to go tell or show your wife something for a split second before you realize it?
2)Do you find yourself avoiding watching or experiencing something she would like, because she can't be there to enjoy it with you?

My mom and I are both experiencing these things.

little bit of good news today:

we had over 100 of these Kate Farms Nutrition drinks, we had bought some, and others had been delivered as a prescription that we partly paid for, as well as a handful of Ensure drinks of various kinds. Obviously, i'm never going to use these, so I called the cancer center where Linda spent a lot of time over the last year, and yes, they would be glad to take them and use them for current patients. yay. some good coming out of all this sadness.

when you can, try to bless others.

My mom and I are both experiencing these things.
1) not really, there were countless things that i'd show or tell her during the course of a day, but now I just have to observe or admire them myself. this morning i re-filled the hummingbird feeders and watched them enjoy some fresh food. couldn't tell her about the rain water cistern levels after last night's rains (we have plenty of water).

2) we used to wake up around 6-6:30am every morning, i'd turn on Fox and make coffee, and then we'd watch the news for a bit as we sipped our coffee while we sat on the new couch she picked out this spring. but now in the mornings, i just get up, get a shower, get dressed and then make coffee for myself and read the news on my iPhone. leaving the TV off. maybe watch a little TV in the evenings, but not as much as before.

and of course she loved to hear about my pistol match results (did you shoot the hostage target again? maybe...), and stories from that fun.

I still have 2 exterior doors i need to swap out in the dining room, that was our spring / summer project, got 2 sets done, then time got away. i'll get them done, but she would help when i was doing that, simple things like cleaning up my sawdust, handing me tools or parts, or just steadying the work while i did the next step. now...it's just me.

and i'm sure she would not be happy about all the weeds in the garden beds, but i just don't have the energy to spend 3-4 hours a day for a week pulling them out at present. so they grow. but at least i'm keeping her new plants and potted plants watered on a regular basis.

Breyer's altered their recipe about 20 or so years ago. USED to be great, now it's just "ok"

1. I still catch myself thinking I need to ask or tell mom something or mom would like this, think something is funny, etc.

2. No, she would want us to continue on.

One strange thing that happened after she died…our family went out to eat at a arestaurant that she liked. We told them a party of 7. When they seated us it was at a table for 8 with eight menu’s. My sis and and I just kinda looked at each other thinking the same thing, she’s here.

I do catch myself either doing or not doing things. Doing things that she would approve of or enjoy or expect. Not doing things that she would not like or approve of.

Does it matter if I make the bed every day? Or that I iron my button down shirt? But I don’t iron my T-shirts. I draw that line.

An example of #2.

My Dad liked all the John Wick movies. I do too, but for some reason I don't want to see the new one when it is released because he can't watch it with me. Things like that.
