I grew up with Miracle Whip. Mom made everything with it that called for mayo. She'd even cut bananas lengthwise, spread Miracle Whip on it, and sprinkle chopped walnuts on top. Miracle Whip was all I knew. Then I moved to the Dirty South and started dating a local. She introduced to Blue Plate mayonnaise and I haven't been able to go back to MW since. I've tried many different brands, but always end up back to Blue Plate. I haven't tried Sir Kensington's yet, but Kraft was probably the worst one I've ever had out of the major brand names. Hellmann's is somewhere in the middle. I actually kind of liked the McCormick Mayonesa.

Kewpie definitely won't be replacing Blue Plate in this house. I like it on asian inspired dishes, but not on burgers or in potato salad.

I cook a lot of Asian type food and I cannot imagine anything that I would want to put mayonnaise on. Just last night I made Pad Prik Khing for dinner because I picked up some nice green beans at the farmer's market. It was spicy as hell, but it was good. |
