That's the car you bought around 2 years ago that you had all the troubles with?
It'll be nice to have it all sorted out for this year. Great sounding motor. |

The engine needs to be tuned still and some minor things need to be cleaned up but it's just about back together and ready to roll in anger. At this point, I can't think of a single bolt that I haven't turned so if it breaks I only have myself to blame now. Of course it's going to break at some point because that's what race cars do, but I have done my best to build it to be reliable in addition to fast. There isn't a cheap part anywhere on it (or in it). A good portion of the parts including all of the switch panels, oil sump, coolers, brakes, and the entire driveline behind the engine came straight out of NASCAR Cup cars. 500hp and 6,800 rpm is a walk in the park for all of those parts. It SHOULD be about the strongest LS1 based engine ever built, everything done and every part put in it was done for longevity and durability. Nothing in it is too radical. It will be right at 500hp and 530-ish torque with a conservative tune when all is said and done. It showed great potential making partial pulls during the break in. Plenty of power to be fun in a 2,600 pound car. Now I just need to get back to the track... |

Dyno numbers are nothing special. It is a stock displacement LS1 w/100% OEM 243 heads and a 100% OEM intake manifold. The stock 75mm throttle body is basically a big restrictor bolted to the front of it. If I could toss a new intake/tb/MAF on it, it could probably make some decent power but per the GTA class rules, unfortunately there's not much you can do to solve the problem of getting air to it.

Man, that's the whole point of it. If there's 1 thing that the roundy-round cars are really good at, it's crashing and keeping the driver safe.
I had a big scare in the Z06 at VIR when the Active Handling decided to go bonkers and sent me off into wet grass at well over 100 mph... with no control of the brakes. I got lucky that it happened where it did and I had room to get it under control without hitting anything. I think I had made the decision before the car even stopped that I wanted something with much more safety built into it. The Z06 went into the trailer and never saw a track again. |

I came close to buying a NASCAR frame car for my track car as well. I needed the passenger seat tho.
Now get your ass back to the track ! BTW- the NCM track is a hoot. Lots of high speed sweepers , blind off camber and holy hell, the sinkhole. |

We went there a couple of years ago to break in a new transmission and shake the car down after some off season work. I had the VIR/long track gear in it and it was no Bueno. I was running entire laps in 2nd/3rd and couldn't ever even get it into 4th gear. This is what happens when you drill 1 of those big super gators... |

According to Matt Busby, those are FIA compliant gators. Something tells me you need a bit more time there to keep it on the track.
Oh- looking at the video again, that's you ****ed up corner. (Named it myself) looks like you can stretch it out but it's a 90. |

With that said, had it not been for the mountainous gators, I'm pretty sure it would have at least come out going the right direction. I tried to hit the inside gator to rotate the car. Mission accomplished. It was actually somewhat under control until it went sideways over the outside one. Worst part was that hitting it sideways cut the sidewalls of both left side tires. |
