Cosmo never was a barker, think he only barked 1-2 times in his life, and those times were heard by people other than myself...you've heard the expression, 'a man of few words', well Cosmo was 'a dog of few woofs'

However, he was more of an 'alarmist' in that he always, without fail, accompanied me to the door whenever the doorbell rang...and always got between me and the person at the door. He seemed to key off of me/my reaction to the person and would stand down whenever he saw that the person was friend and not foe.

Although Boxers are very friendly dogs, they have an intimidating look if you are not used to them...I was outside throwing something in the recycling bin when someone from the home warranty company arrived for an appointment at the house I had just bought. I walked with him through the garage into the house and opened the door to Cosmo standing there and said, "I'll put him (Cosmo) in another room while you work"...the contractor (a foreigner) took one look at Cosmo, pretty much shat himself and was very appreciative that I moved him to another portion of the house.
