Default Interesting facts on gun control

Here's an interesting side bar. After the Japanese decimated our fleet in Pearl Harbor Dec 7, 1941, they could have sent their troop ships and carriers directly to California to finish what they started. The prediction from our Chief of Staff was we would not be able to stop a massive invasion until they reached the Mississippi River. Remember, we had a 2 million man army and war ships in other localities, so why did they not invade?

After the war, the remaining Japanese generals and admirals were asked that question. Their answer....they know that almost every home had guns and the Americans knew how to use them.

1. The world's largest army ... America 's hunters! I had never thought about this....

2. A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion:

3. There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin .

4. Allow me to restate that number.

5. Over the last several months, Wisconsin ’s hunters became the eighth largest army in the world.

6. More men under arms than in Iran .

7. More than in France and Germany combined.

8. These men deployed to the woods of a single American state to hunt with firearms, and no one was killed.

9. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan 's 700,000 hunters,

10. All of whom have now returned home.

11. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that

12. The hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. The number of Hunters in the state of Texas would be the largest standing army in the world by it's self.

13. The point?

14. America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home-grown firepower.

15. Hunting -- it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It's a matter of national security.

16. That's why all enemies, foreign and domestic, want to see us disarmed.

17. Food for thought when next we consider gun control. 🤨

I wonder how many in the South East?
I do not hunt, my husband does, but I am a good shot with a rifle or handgun. Add to the above the SE and those of us who do not hunt but own guns and can shoot well.

True back in those days, but the next war will not be fought that way.

The first shot in the next war will be your computer going dark.

to paraphrase a Clint Eastwood character: "i'm in favor of gun control, if there is a gun around, I want to control it."

Iran don't have the common sense God gave a goose.....collective IQ average about 80, chances of them ever fielding an effective attack force of any kind is about zero.....look at their neighbors, same league.....

Trump knows this witch is wye he wants our troops outta there, nothing there to be concerned about.....after that, blast every power plant....darkness and no one to rebuild them.....

Basically this. The attacker takes out our grid/internet, then what? If it is to be a technological war, it will end up being our geeks against their geeks, who do you think will win that battle? Who developed all of our computer/internet technology? Wouldn't the guys that did that have the major advantage in such a battle? Who is still the biggest technology innovator on the planet? Just because you can make a circuit board cheaper than we can, doesn't mean you are in the same weight class when it comes time for the brain on brain throwdown. To this day, China STILL does not seem to understand this, and I'm not going to explain it to them. The Japanese might have a chance against us, but they are biding their time for now, because the know they are not yet ready to take on the champs, and another run at us needs to be a "must win", or it will just be suicide.

At least at this time, no country or group of countries has any significant probability to beat the US in a technological war on a medium or long-term basis. Sure, China can deny us parts for a while, and if they team up with Russia, they can put the hurtin's to us on some raw materials, but how long will that really last? Long enough for them to keep us dark while they put together an invasion force with any significant chance of winning a ground war BEFORE they run short of food and oil? Unlikely at best.

I have no doubt they know this too. That is why both countries have been pretty invested in keeping the status quo. They know they can't win the big one, so they will wait until we do something stupid, like go socialist. It is for this reason, that the whole concept of Russia lifting a finger to help Trump defeat Hillary is insanely stupid. Russia and China will continue to do what they have been doing for 20+ years, helping the US to implode as much as they can without getting caught.

I’m not totally convinced that today’s sheeple would take to arms even if an invasion happened right under their noses. I get that Americans own guns, but judging from what I’ve seen, many of them couldn’t or wouldn’t shoot their way out of a paper sack.

Might be true in the urban areas but in the more rural areas, we take our freedom and love of country seriously.

I shoot indoor Glock matches and I regularly outscore the LEOs who compete. The exceptions are FBI, SWAT, US Marshals and Special Forces military. Those officers are provided with an allotment of practice ammunition and are expected to expend said allotment. I agree that the vast majority of citizen gun owners who shoot at all probably expend at most 100 rounds a year if that. Most local law enforcement departments do not pay their officers to practice, nor do they provide practice ammo. That means that for those LEOs who do not shoot seriously the average round count downrange annually would be about 100 rounds expended in qualification shoots. THAT is a travesty, and a major disservice to those who protect and serve.

I frequent 2 different indoor and 1 outdoor range and can tell you that in my area the average range attendee is highly unlikely to fully understand the manual of arms for their weapon, never mind putting rounds center mass on a B-27 at 20 feet. They shoot up the side walls, the floor and the ceiling baffles pretty good though.

I’m not even talking about law enforcement or former military. I’m talking about keyboard commandos who talk a big game but at the end of the day, are pretty much cowards and run from bullets, not towards them.

An invading army will go for the population centers first and round up all the sheeple. There is no tactical advantage to securing sparsely populated rural areas. I don’t doubt your love of freedom and country, but it’s not relevant if an invading army bypasses you.
