I was curious about the social security angle someone mentioned on the forum. Any ideas? How old are his children in the islands?

Let's focus on his wife and kids right now. I have a plan for the brick/memorial and will do something with that soon.

Tim was a Dayton native, and we always gave each other "locality" jokes.

My heart sank upon learning of his death.

FWIW, I am 100% in agreement for thinking of the family first. The brick idea was most certainly secondary to that.

My vote would be for the museum rather than the track for a few reasons that would take a while to explain. We can discuss that part later.

Sang this one in church yesterday and brought tears to my eyes thinking about where Tim is now.

I'm going to go with 20.00 and that lowers it to only 38 more members or 19 more at 20 bucks. Any combination works to get to the 400 I suppose.

Tim and I had been emailing back and forth about the site being down, his last email apparently just a couple of hours before it happened; FWIW, he was in good spirits, didn't indicate he was feeling bad. When I saw Sandy's thread at the other place is sucked the air out of my lungs. I immediately responded to Tim's last email saying please respond; obviously it didn't come. I prayed hard that night that Tim was a Believer; when I saw Rob's confirmation the next day...it was emotional, to say the least. Thanks, Jesus; and thank God for Julian.

a few years ago i was almost in the same situation, hours away from falling over dead from a bad heart. I thank God every day for my wife and her insisting I go to the ER. had a cousin who dropped dead with no warning from a bad heart.

So that series of events surrounding this is rather odd for me as well.

Tim and I were chatting on Thursday morning when I got to my desk ~7am (9pm his time). He didn't say anything about feeling bad around then and we were chatting about going ahead and building Mama and Papa a hut there on his property that matches his hut so that everything looked nice there. He said he would work on that for me and break down all the costs as well as get one of the local carpenters to price things out to make sure that he was on spec with things.

I gave Tim a hard time about a couple things and we laughed about them. Then we talked a little about landscaping and getting our other brothers to help out some while they are living with him. That was about 8am (10pm). After that we stopped chatting for the day.

I got home on Thursday afternoon at 5pm and was sitting and talking to her and JC. She got up and went to the restroom and that is when her phone rang. It was a Philippines number so I answered. no one replied so I hung up. About 5 minutes later, she gets a text on her phone and looks at me. I knew someone had died and thought it might be her Mama because she had been sick and needed to go to the doctor that next day.

She looked at me and said, Tim is dead.

I just felt sick. All I could think was there is no way that Tim is gone. I told her to call over there and find someone and ask what is happening. She called a cousin, and it was confirmed.

The rest of the night we just sat and talked and waited to hear from someone. She finally heard from her sister and found out that whatever was happening started about 11am my time (1am over there).

The next morning I got up and got ready to go to work. All that was on my mind was "Is Tim saved?". I should know this because he is my brother-in-law and on several occasions we have talked about God and the importance of God in my life as well as my families. I finally left for work and hopped in the truck to head to the train station. Not 3 minutes after I was in the truck my wife texts me and said there is a bird in the house. I laughed at first because if there was I would have heard it. So I popped open my security cameras app on my phone and for sure, there was a bird just singing away. I wondered how the bird got in the house and asked my wife to walk downstairs to where it sounded like the bird was. She walked down and there was the bird, standing on the window sill looking in, singing.

Now I am not one that believes in reincarnation, but I do believe that God does send messengers in many forms. All we have to do is learn to listen. Tune out the crap around us that turns away from what really matters and tune into what God is telling us.

After arriving at the train station just two minutes later, I got a message from our friend Onedef.

After receiving that message from Julian, the bird flew away where I could hear it no more on my cameras. The message I was seeking had been delivered; Tim was saved, and one day I will see him again.

I agree, and for Believers, there's really no such thing as a coincidence, is there. I certainly felt my prayer was answered when I saw your post the next day.

It's not going to be challenging at all.

I'll take 10 spots and put in $100/month

We need someone to coordinate the monthly collection and distribution. Anyone? Maybe Dixie?

OK, I find this a bit funny. Tim gets one more laugh

Total Solar Eclipse

On March 8th starting at 3:00 PM PST ¦ 6:00 PM EST ¦ 23:00 UTC and ending at 6:00 PM PST ¦ 9:00 PM EST ¦ 02:00 UTC. Cox will be accompanied by a team from the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC), and he will provide updates of his journey throughout the week on Slooh. In addition to multiple feeds from Indonesia capturing totality, Slooh will have live feeds from several other locations along the eclipse path.

That is Wednesday morning over there - when his funeral is planned.

Not sure if that's the best way but maybe a start?

I honestly love how this group pulls together in tough times.
We can certainly make the payments directly to that account, I'd just like to see someone monitor the monthly payments to ensure we continue to give what's pledged. Unfortunately, I can't be that person, as this new project is a 200% time commitment for me.

I can post up a monthly reminder for everyone if you would like? However, I do not have access to the PayPal account. I prefer it being that way so that people are giving anonymously or at least the amount that they are comfortable with.

I am not going to hound people about giving, but I will kindly post up a reminder each month so that those that would like to give can.

I just made my first monthly installment and attached this message:

Dear Irish, Alleayah, Chico, Amber, and Steve,

This is to help you after your tragic loss of Tim. Tim was about to start working for me on a project. This is the least that I can do. thevettebarn.com will help take care of you. I have personally pledged $100/month for the foreseeable future to make sure you are all cared for.

God speed,

Craig

This is the core of what this site does for it's own. Let's make damn sure we meet that $400/month.
