Default Those batteries paid off...

When I bought this monster notebook, Dell gave me enough credit to get 2 more batteries, and a second power charger for free.

We just did the ride up to Georgia Tech, and the wife did the driving, and I was billable for 8 hours today, so nice to make money while riding.

3 batteries gave me about 10 total hours of time. Between my unlimited 4G and those batteries, I was able to log a full day.

Some new vehicles are providing up to 2 3-prong 115v power points. The new RAM 1500, for example, has two. One in the dash, the other for the rear seat.

You won't see me in a Dodge. Does the mid-engine have one?

That 12.3 amps is at the secondary (output) voltage, which is 19.5 volts.
On the 120v primary side of the brick, it will consume about 2 amps of AC current.

Inverters are typically sized by wattage. The power adapter for your 7720 should be rated at 240 watts (which matches my 2a input current calculation), so an inverter that can supply more than 240 watts continuously should suffice.
They aren't hard to find and not expensive, however anything more than 150w or so will be pushing the limits of the vehicle's lighter socket, so you'd need to hardwire it directly to the battery....Just as you would a stereo amplifier rated for a few hundred watts.
